Story Highlights
------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------
1. ORM: Tracking Operations From Half a World Away
------------------------------------------------------------
Because outsourcing both creates and destroys, the multi-billion dollar
global outsourcing industry has given rise to the field of outsourcing
relationship management and a $500 million market for ORM software tools
from niche players like Janeeva, Kelsar, Digital Fuel, Oblicore and
RealTime Bookkeeping. ORM encompasses elements of organizational
structure, IT infrastructure and management strategy.

2. Widgets and Social Apps: The Rules of Engagement
------------------------------------------------------------
Social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook have become
extremely fertile environments for product placement and branding.
Marketers can reach consumers where they are spending significant
amounts of time with compelling content that can potentially break
through the marketing noise. Widgets are ideal for social networking
venues because they pack a huge impact into a small size.

3. Reinventing a Giant: The New SAP
------------------------------------------------------------
Having delivered on its goal of moving to a service-oriented
architecture, SAP now aims to make use of that architecture as it drives
innovation out to the fringes of its sphere of influence. CEO Henning
Kagermann outlined in his keynote at the company's Sapphire conference a
strategy to deliver "enhancement packets," basically mini-applications
or functional modules that can be added on to existing SAP software.

4. Advertisers Invite Web Judgment
------------------------------------------------------------
For Billy Bloom, advertising with StumbleUpon was a bit like stepping
into the Coliseum in ancient Rome: If StumbleUpon users liked
Zunafish.com -- Bloom's site for trading CDs, DVDs, video games and
books -- they could endorse it by clicking a "thumbs up" icon. A few
thousand of those might make Zunafish.com a hit as word spread among
StumbleUpon users and, perhaps, their friends.

5. Still Plenty of Juice in the On-Premise, On-Demand Debate
------------------------------------------------------------
So you've decided to buy your solution instead of build one. This
doesn't mean that it's easy to choose which product, or even what kind
of solution to purchase. Take the choice between installing software on
your own equipment -- the "on-premise" solution vs. leasing a solution
that runs on the vendor's servers, or getting your software "on-demand."

6. MySpace: My Portal?
------------------------------------------------------------
Just as Yahoo gets one competitor off its back by quitting merger
discussions with Microsoft, the Web portal may soon find itself going
head-to-head with a new rival. Starting June 18, News Corp.'s social
network MySpace is introducing design changes it hopes will make it look
and feel a lot more like Yahoo.

7. Locking Out the iPhone Unlockers
------------------------------------------------------------
The new iPhone and the way it will be sold look set to shut down a small
industry that arose to make the first version of the iconic phone
available around the world. The original iPhone, which launched in June
last year, was initially available only in the U.S. and only for use on
AT&T's network.

8. Make Your Web Site Work for You
------------------------------------------------------------
Wherever your Web site ranks on your list of things to work on, move it
up to the top. It's that critical. Your Web site isn't "about" your
company, it's an extension of your company. If it's unprofessional,
you're unprofessional. If it's cluttered, you're cluttered. If it's hard
to work with, you're hard to work with. By contrast, if it's well put
together, smart, and easy to use, so is your company.

9. Speridian Technologies: Do One Thing Well
------------------------------------------------------------
Four years ago, what is now Speridian Technologies was a one-man
operation whose first-year revenues -- less than $40,000 -- wouldn't
have grabbed any headlines. However, by the end of 2007, the software
consulting firm had grown to a global company, headquartered in
Albuquerque, N.M., with offices in India and Dubai, U.A.E.

10. Gaming Industry Scores Big in May
------------------------------------------------------------
Console gaming sales continued at their record-breaking pace in May,
according to sales figures released by the NPD Group Friday. The video
game industry raked in a total of $1.12 billion on sales of accessories,
hardware and software for the month. That's a 37 percent increase over
the same period in 2007.

11. FCC Looks to Play Terminator on Cell Phone Cancellation Fees
------------------------------------------------------------
Sky-high cancellation fees for cell phone contracts could soon be a
thing of the past, but getting there is proving to be difficult. The
Federal Communications Commission has put forward a plan to regulate
carriers' ability to charge you for ending your agreement early -- but
not everyone in the industry agrees it's a good idea.
